REC SOCCER
Cardinal Rec soccer is for kids ages 2 to 14, whether it's their first time kicking a ball or they've been playing for years. Our Rec soccer program puts fun first, helps kid develop real skills along the way, and is coached by local volunteers who are positive and supportive.
Ages & Divisions
U6 through U15 Coed Divisions: U6 through U10 Coed play in our in-house league against other Cardinal teams, while U12 and U15 Coed plays in an inter-city league against nearby clubs
U10 Girls and U12 Girls play in an inter-city league against nearby clubs
We also offer our Tiny Titans program for 2 and 3 year-olds

U15: August 1, 2011—July 31, 2014
U12: August 1, 2014—July 31, 2016
U10: August 1, 2016—July 31, 2018
U8: August 1, 2018—July 31, 2020
U6: August 1, 2020—July 31, 2022
When?
Fall and Spring seasons are included with fees. The Fall season runs from September-October, and the Spring season runs from April-May.
Where We Play
Practices and in-house league games are played in Mentor.
Away games (inter-city league only) are played Lake and Geauga counties within a 25-minute drive of Mentor.
Games & Practices
Teams will play 6-8 games each season, Fall and Spring. League games are typically played on weeknights or Saturdays.
Teams practice one-to-two times per week during each season.
Pricing
Rec soccer costs $175, which includes both the Fall and Spring seasons. Uniforms included in your registration fees!
Financial Assistance: Families who qualify for free or reduced-price school lunch are eligible for discounted or free registration, and we offer payment plans and assistance for any family that needs them.

Rec Fall 2026/Spring 2027

Rec soccer at Cardinal is a great opportunity for kids age 2 to 14 to make new friends, challenge themselves, and develop new skills on the soccer field. Some of our Rec players are kicking a ball for the first time, others have played for years and want to keep improving and competing with friends. All Rec players get a fun season, skill development, and coaches who care.
The Basics
Ages: 2 to 14
Cost includes the Fall and Spring season and jerseys
Games occur on weeknights or weekends, plus weekly practices as scheduling and weather allow
Most games are played on Mentor School fields and McMinn Park in Mentor-on-the-Lake, with some games played in neighboring communities
Open to all families in Mentor and surrounding communities
Teams mix experience and skill levels so every kid gets to play, learn, and have fun

Volunteer Coaches
Cardinal Rec runs on volunteer coaches. No experience is required, but we strive to have coaches that are positive and supportive. For young players, coaches are the difference between an “ok” experience and a great one. And coaches receive one free Rec registration for their own child as a thank you. Late Registration
Spots may still be available after the deadline. Late registrations will have a $20 fee, and uniforms may arrive after the season starts.
